Bengt Mikael Gunneson Svelander is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in board governance and asset management. Currently serving as a Board Member for Fintech Africa and MTI Investment SE, and operating as a Small Business Owner at Bsvel Advisory AB, Bengt has held multiple leadership roles including Head of Department at Kammarkollegiet, where responsibilities included overseeing the Department of Asset Management. Previous positions include Managing Director at Nykredit Bank A/S, where Bengt established the Swedish branch, and Head of Wealth Management Offerings at Nordea. As Co-Founder, Partner, and CEO of Northern Spirit Capital AB, Bengt played a significant role in launching a Scandinavian-focused Macro/Fund Income fund. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics from Uppsala University.

“Mti” is Swahili for tree, which symbolically represents MTI’s focus on growing companies--with the potential to bear fruit from our long-term efforts of investing, coaching, and monitoring our portfolio companies. MTI Investment is a Tanzanian/Nordic investment company founded by Professor Trond Randøy, Pontus Engström Ph.D., Dr. Neema Mori, and Dr. Gibson Munisi. Since 2012, the team has been seeking opportunities in Tanzania and building relational infrastructure with key stakeholders, such as universities, legal advisors, and local firms. Our initial investments were performed in 2014. What makes MTI Investment unique is our committed approach to investing. We seek businesses that are run by highly competent, university-educated managers and owners, and we capitalize on our higher education networks to help these businesses further excel.
