David van Berkel is a seasoned professional in renewable energy engineering, currently serving as the Director of Solar and BESS Engineering at Mulilo Energy since April 2024. Prior experience includes a tenure as Head of the Engineering Department at Scatec ASA, where responsibility encompassed the global System Engineering team for various renewable technologies, along with directing engineering efforts in the LATAM region. David's earlier roles encompass consulting and engineering positions at RINA, Nugeneration (Pty) Ltd, Aurecon, and Connell Wagner, demonstrating a comprehensive background in electrical engineering and project management. Academically, David holds a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours in Mechatronics from The University of Auckland and a Master of Philosophy in Political Philosophy from the University of Pretoria.

Since its establishment in 2008, Mulilo has grown into one of the leading Independent Power Producers (IPP) in Southern Africa.
