Lead Data Architect at Mux

Alex Diehl has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Alex is currently working as the Lead Data Architect at Mux since December 2019. Prior to that, they were a Staff Data Engineer at Oculus VR from October 2018 to November 2019, where they mentored junior team members, managed work execution, and corrected incomplete logic in data models.

Before joining Oculus VR, Alex served as the Founding Backend Engineer at Mux Inc from May 2016 to October 2018. In this role, they scoped, architected, and implemented core database infrastructure, a dynamic SQL layer for the Mux Data API, and a distributed OLTP database system for the Mux Video product.

Alex also worked at Oculus VR as a Senior Data Engineer from September 2014 to May 2016. Alex contributed to designing and building tooling for data migration, client-side logging data, and supporting the launch of VR headsets.

Prior to Oculus VR, Alex worked at Zenimax Online as a Senior Application Developer, leading the development of Big Data solutions and self-hosted Cloudera HDFS/Impala for The Elder Scrolls Online launch. Alex also built payment tracking processes for game sales.

Alex's earlier experiences include roles as a Software Developer at Sageworks, Inc., an Operations Engineer I at Connectiv Solutions, and a Technology Intern at SAIC.

Alex Diehl attended Bullis School from 2002 to 2005. The degree name and field of study during this time are unknown. Following that, from 2005 to 2009, Alex studied at Dickinson College and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Economics and Computer Science.
