Variety Testing (dus) at Naktuinbouw

Lizah van den Engel currently works at Naktuinbouw as a Variety Testing (DUS) specialist since January 2019, focusing on establishing the distinctiveness and stability of new candidate plant varieties for Breeders' Rights and listing in the Netherlands. Prior to this role, Lizah served as a Research Technician and Laboratory Instructor in the Biology and Medical Laboratory Research (BML) course at Hogeschool Rotterdam from August 2018 to January 2019, providing support and supervision to students. Lizah gained valuable research experience as a BSc Research Intern at Leiden University Medical Center, studying the molecular basis of bacterial pathogenesis and antibiotic resistance. Earlier work experience includes positions as a shop employee at Action and Dirk van den Broek. Lizah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Medical Laboratory Research from Hogeschool Leiden, awarded in 2018, and completed VWO/Havo in Natuur en Gezondheid at Het Vlietlandcollege in 2014.

Stichting Nederlandse Algemene Kwaliteitsdienst Tuinbouw (Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture) is better known as Naktuinbouw. Naktuinbouw promotes and monitors the quality of produce, processes and chains in horticulture. The main focus is on propagating material, of national and international origin. Naktuinbouw is a self governing body (ZBO) regulated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EA&I).
