Derek Muldowney has a diverse work experience in various industries. Derek started their career as a Project Quantity Surveyor at Gleeds and Patterson, Kempster & Shortall, where they were responsible for cost estimates and contract documentation for commercial and industrial facilities. Derek then moved to MW Kellogg and Parsons Corporation as a Project Controls Manager, overseeing cost control and scheduling functions for petrochemical projects in different locations. After that, Derek worked at Coastal Corporation as a Project Manager, managing design and construction projects in the power sector in the US and international markets. Currently, they hold the position of SVP Facilities Development & President NASCAR Design & Development at NASCAR, where they are responsible for project delivery and executive oversight, negotiating agreements for sports and entertainment projects.
Derek Muldowney received their education at Trinity College Dublin, where they earned an MA and BSc in Construction Economics and Surveying from 1983 to 1987. During the same period, they also completed a Diploma in Construction Economics from Technological University Dublin. In 1990, they obtained certification as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) from RICS.
