Maikel Gaitkoski is an Associate Researcher at NIBRT National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training since July 2022. Previously, Maikel was a Master's Student at FIOCRUZ - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz from March 2018 to March 2021, where a Master's degree in Biosciences & Biotechnology was obtained. Prior to that, Maikel completed an internship at Universidade Federal do Pampa from April 2016 to March 2018. In terms of education, Maikel is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at University College Dublin from September 2022 to September 2026 and holds a Specialist Degree in Biotechnology from Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul - UERGS, completed in December 2022. Maikel earned a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Universidade Federal do Pampa (2011 - 2016) and participated in an International Student Exchange program in Biotechnology at Maynooth University from January 2014 to June 2015.

The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) is a global centre of excellence for training and research in bioprocessing. NIBRT is located in a new, world class facility in Dublin, Ireland. This facility is purpose built to closely replicate a modern bioprocessing plant with state of the art equipment. NIBRT is based on an innovative collaboration between University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and the Institute of Technology, Sligo. NIBRT was primarily funded by the Government of Ireland through Ireland’s inward investment promotion agency, IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency), which is responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland.
