Peter Mell is a Senior Computer Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where responsibilities include leading the Algorithms for Intrusion Measurement research project focused on metrics and algorithms for the detection and response life cycle. Previously, Peter led a team in developing a continuous security monitoring technical reference model for large enterprises and conceived the initial design of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). Peter co-created the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and managed the National Vulnerability Database, in addition to leading the creation of version 2 of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS). Educational background includes an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis, and B.S. and B.A. degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University.
