Shyam Gidumal

Shyam Gidumal is a Board Member at National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) and a Leader in shareholder activism, carveouts, and consumer product and retail industries. Shyam has over 25 years of experience working in transformation, growth, and turnaround situations across a wide range of industries including consumer products, retail, and technology.

Gidumal began their career as a managing director at AlixPartners in 2002 where they worked on turnaround and growth projects for clients in various industries. In 2011, they joined Ernst & Young as a partner and principal in the firm’s shareholder activism, carveouts, and consumer product and retail practices. During their eight years at Ernst & Young, Gidumal advised companies on strategic initiatives, including M&A transactions, activist campaigns, and IPOs.

In February 2020, Gidumal joined WeWork as the company’s president and chief operating officer. Shyam was recruited by SoftBank to lead the company’s transformation and ran a $1.5 billion P&L with 25 million square feet of space across 10 countries. Under their leadership, WeWork went public via a SPAC merger IPO in October 2021 and achieved a 300% IRR through a combination of revitalizing top-line sales growth, driving retention, building portfolio exits, renegotiating key contracts, changing the culture, and redesigning the organization.
