Steven Bell

Steven Bell is a Principal Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) since October 2014, specializing in the support of UK Government, industry, and academia through the maintenance of primary standards of radioactive gas and the development of radiation detection instrumentation. Prior to this role, Steven held various positions at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory from October 2010 to September 2014, including Senior Research Scientist and Research Engineer, focusing on metal contacts for CdZnTe radiation detectors used in medical imaging and homeland security. Steven's initial experience includes a placement at Magnox Ltd in mid-2010, investigating efficiency calibration software for gamma spectrometers in nuclear decommissioning. Steven holds an EngD in Micro and Nano Materials Technology, an MSc in Radiation Detection and Instrumentation, and a BSc in Physics, all from the University of Surrey.
