2025 Fellowship Sponsorship Opportunity - Workplace Justice

Washington, United States

Job description

The Position

The Workplace Justice team at the National Women’s Law Center seeks rising third-year law students, judicial clerks, and other law school graduates interested in applying for Skadden, Equal Justice Works, Justice Catalyst, or other legal fellowships to begin in August or September 2025.

NWLC’s Workplace Justice program team invites fellowship project proposals that focus on strengthening and expanding legal protections for survivors of workplace sexual violence and harassment in the military. Prospective fellows with and without expertise in the military and/or the Uniform Code of Military Justice are invited to submit proposals. NWLC has played a leading role in supporting the right of servicemembers to be free from workplace sexual harassment, including assault, and co-convenes the Military Reform Coalition, a coalition of advocates, organizations, and individuals dedicated to ending sexual violence and harassment in the military; protecting and expanding reproductive health care access for service members, veterans, and their loved ones; and supporting survivors of military workplace violence and harassment. Our efforts incorporate a strong focus on the rights of women and girls of color, LGBTQI+ individuals, and women and families with low incomes.

The fellow’s project may include a combination of public outreach and education, including creation of materials (such as fact sheets, reports and toolkits) to expand awareness of existing and/or needed  legal protections;  federal administrative and legislative advocacy to establish and strengthen workplace protections, including coalition work; and/or, to a lesser extent,  supporting litigation through assistance with amicus briefs aimed at enforcing and expanding the workplace-related rights of women and LGBTQI+ individuals in the military. As needed, the fellow may also provide other program and organization-wide support.

This is a full-time exempt position of 37.5 hours per week.

The Organization

The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) fights for gender justice — in the courts, in public policy, and in our society — working across the issues that are central to the lives of women and girls.

We use the law in all its forms to change culture and drive solutions to the gender inequity that shapes our society and to break down the barriers that harm all of us — especially women of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and low-income women and families.

For over 50 years, we have been on the leading edge of every major legal and policy victory for women, and we need you with us to continue this fight. Find out more at NWLC.org.

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and coalition partners;

A salary within the range of $85,490-93,967 will be provided to the successful candidate, consistent with the National Women’s Law Center’s compensation framework.
