Suresh was appointed in October 2022, leading on the technology strategy and transformation, technology functions and broader Society central business services. He has over 30 years of experience in technology and financial services, specialising in setting up complex global technology operations and integrations. Suresh began his career at Citi Group, where he set up their branch-banking platform and led acquisition and integrations across Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. He joined Barclays in 2008 as Chief Information Officer for Barclays Corporate Bank and then went on to lead Operations and Technology for Barclays UK, where he helped set up their ring-fenced bank. In 2019 Suresh joined TSB as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing digital transformation, and broader technology and corporate functions. In 2020, he became an advisory board member of Rackspace Technology.

Its headquarters are in Swindon, England. Nationwide is the result of over a hundred mergers, the most notable of which are its merger with Anglia Building Society in 1987 and Portman Building Society in 2007. It is now the second largest provider of household savings and mortgages in the UK and has a 7.7% market share of current accounts.
