Mike Oliver is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in data analytics, operational process improvement, and risk management. Currently serving as a Strategic Advisor at Toka Tū Ake EQC since June 2023, Mike previously held the position of Practice Lead - Data and Analytics at Datacom from November 2021 to June 2023. Mike also worked at Deloitte New Zealand as an Associate Director from March 2018 to November 2021, focusing on enabling data-driven improvements. Notably, during a 15-year tenure at Spark New Zealand, Mike managed various teams responsible for revenue assurance and risk analysis, applying machine learning techniques to enhance credit scorecard performance. Mike began a career at Statistics New Zealand, contributing to the production and analysis of quarterly GDP statistics, and holds a Master of Commerce in Economics from the University of Canterbury.

Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake
The Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tu Ake is New Zealand’s unique response to its geological environment. NHC Toka Tū Ake provides insurance cover for damage to residential property caused by earthquakes, landslips, volcanic eruptions, hydrothermal activity and tsunamis. All New Zealanders with home and/or contents insurance automatically receive NHCover. Other key functions include: Administering the Natural Disaster Fund, facilitating and supporting research to help build understanding of natural disasters and how to mitigate damage, and implementing education initiatives using school programmes, advertising and collateral.
