Rob Hodgson

Rob Hodgson is an experienced professional currently serving as the Chief Data Officer and Acting Chief Strategy Officer at the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake since June 2022. Prior to this role, Rob worked at the Ministry of Social Development from July 2016 to June 2022 as the Group General Manager Insights, focusing on cultural change and strategic leadership to enhance research and data-driven decision-making. Rob also held positions at the Accident Compensation Corporation and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, where responsibilities included strategic advising and policy management. Earlier in the career, Rob served in various analytical roles at the Department of Labour and MSD. Rob holds a Master's degree in Economics from Massey University, earned between 1997 and 2004.

The Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tu Ake is New Zealand’s unique response to its geological environment. NHC Toka Tū Ake provides insurance cover for damage to residential property caused by earthquakes, landslips, volcanic eruptions, hydrothermal activity and tsunamis. All New Zealanders with home and/or contents insurance automatically receive NHCover. Other key functions include: Administering the Natural Disaster Fund, facilitating and supporting research to help build understanding of natural disasters and how to mitigate damage, and implementing education initiatives using school programmes, advertising and collateral.
