Scott Lewis is a highly experienced consulting actuary with a diverse background in risk management and actuarial services. Currently serving as an Independent Consultant and Commissioner at Toka Tū Ake EQC, Scott has held significant positions such as Head of Actuarial at Oranga Tamariki and Head of Insurance Risk & Reinsurance at IAG New Zealand. Scott's expertise also includes contributions to the Christchurch earthquakes response while at Lumley Insurance, and leadership roles at Vero Insurance and Royal & Sun Alliance, across various regions including New Zealand and the Americas. Scott's career spans over three decades, beginning as an Actuarial Analyst at TOWER, with a solid foundation in education from Kawerau College and Feilding High School.

The Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tu Ake is New Zealand’s unique response to its geological environment. NHC Toka Tū Ake provides insurance cover for damage to residential property caused by earthquakes, landslips, volcanic eruptions, hydrothermal activity and tsunamis. All New Zealanders with home and/or contents insurance automatically receive NHCover. Other key functions include: Administering the Natural Disaster Fund, facilitating and supporting research to help build understanding of natural disasters and how to mitigate damage, and implementing education initiatives using school programmes, advertising and collateral.
