Scott Jones

Scott Jones joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in the summer of 2021 from his previous role as executive director of strategic planning and capital development with Alberta Parks. There, he led diverse teams throughout Alberta responsible for operations, infrastructure development, strategic plans and policies, land acquisition, land use management, and external relationships. As vice president of operations, he provides oversight and strategic leadership to NCC’s regional teams, as well as the delivery of NCC’s programs across Canada.

In his more than 25 years of experience and post-secondary education in protected areas planning and management, including 15 years with Alberta Parks, Scott has worked hard to establish and maintain longstanding positive relationships with conservation leaders across Canada, including representing Alberta and Canada’s efforts on Pathway to Canada Target 1.

Scott grew up in rural southern Alberta and has lived across Canada in Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Ontario.
