Lisa Lewis has a diverse work experience in various government departments and organizations. Lisa started their career as a Tax Verifier and Processor at the NC Department of Revenue in 1996. Lisa then worked as an Accounting Clerk at the NC Dept of Environment and Natural Resources from 1997 to 1999. In 2000, they became an Accounts Payable Specialist at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction before transitioning to the role of Business Office Manager at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, where they worked from 2000 to 2009.
From 2009 to 2011, Lisa served as a Regional Administrative Officer at the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Lisa then took on the role of Logistics Manager at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety from 2011 to 2013.
Lisa's career then shifted to the field of healthcare administration. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a Business Manager (Dental & Education) at the East Carolina University Division of Health Sciences.
In 2018, Lisa joined the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services as a Business Services Coordinator-Budget Office. Lisa later had roles as an Assistant Budget Officer and a Budget Officer within the organization. Lisa continued their career in governmental organizations with a role as a Business Officer at the NC Department of Environmental Quality from 2021 to 2022.
Currently, Lisa is employed at the NC Department of Health and Human Services, where they have held the positions of Chief Budget Officer and Chief of Budget and Contracts, starting in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Lisa Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Management Information Systems from East Carolina University between 2008 and 2011. Lisa also holds an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Business Administration and Management from Central Carolina Community College, as well as an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the same institution. No specific dates are provided for the completion of their associate degrees.

The Department of Health and Human Services manages the delivery of health- and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially our most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled and low-income families.
