Madeleine Lopeman is an experienced data science professional currently serving as the Director of Data Science at Nearmap since January 2024, following the acquisition of Betterview, where Madeleine held the same title from 2020 to January 2024 and previously worked as Lead Data Scientist. Prior experience includes working as a Data Scientist at Blackboard Insurance in 2019-2020 and holding various analytics positions at Guy Carpenter from 2013 to 2019, including Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Analytics. Madeleine began a career in academia as a Doctoral Researcher at Columbia University, focusing on storm surge risk, and served as a Research Assistant assessing the impacts of climate change on the New York City subway system. Madeleine completed a Ph.D., M.Phil., and MS in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University, following a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structures and a minor in architecture.
