Neighborhood Service Organization
Vivian Pickard is the current director at the Neighborhood Service Organization. Vivian previously worked at General Motors from January 1998 to December 2015. During their time at General Motors, they served as the president of the GM Foundation and the director of corporate relations. Vivian was responsible for all of General Motors’ US giving, developing strategic plans for the Foundation and corporate giving, and maintained oversight of the annual budget of more than $60M. Vivian also oversaw cause-related marketing and significantly expanded donor bases and increased donation potential for the General Motors Foundation. Additionally, they increased General Motors’ “Share of Voice” in the automotive field to 58% of overall automotive media. Vivian served as a member of the General Motors’ Diversity Council and partnered with global business units as an advisor.
Vivian Pickard has a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Administration from Ferris State University. Vivian also has an honorary doctorate from Ferris State University.

NSO’s empowering programs and services provide assistance for: older adults with mental illness, children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities, youth leadership and advocacy training, year-round workforce development for youth, young adults, and their parents, homeless recovery services, housing development, community outreach for psychiatric emergencies, call the hotline for emergency shelter and housing resources in Detroit, training, and volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and organizations.
