Bas Kokshoorn

Bas Kokshoorn is a distinguished principal scientist at the Netherlands Forensic Institute, contributing expertise in human biological traces and DNA since May 2008. Additionally, Bas holds a position as a professor by special appointment at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since May 2021 and serves as an assessor for DNA at the Netherlands Register of Court Experts (NRGD) since January 2018. Bas has been a research associate in the Department of Terrestrial Zoology at Naturalis Biodiversity Center since 2001. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Evolutionary Biology from Leiden University (2004-2008) and a Master's degree in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology from the same institution (1998-2003).
