Toma Itagaki

Toma Itagaki is a PhD Student in Computer Science at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, currently serving as a Graduate Research Assistant since September 2023, supported by the NSF GRFP. Toma has been a Writer and Podcast Host at NeurotechJP since December 2021, focusing on interviews and articles about innovative neurotechnology. As the President and Vice President of Synaptech RSO from January 2021 to June 2023, Toma onboarded the organization as a NeurotechX Student Club and initiated multiple long-term neurotech projects utilizing EEG. Prior research experience includes roles at the Ubiquitous Computing Lab and aoLab, where Toma worked on integrating neural data into technologies and enhancing video labeling algorithms for brain-controlled devices, respectively. Toma's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Washington and ongoing doctoral studies at Columbia University.
