Natalie Prochaska, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience. Natalie is currently the Director of Planning and Research at Nevada HAND, Inc. Additionally, they serve as a Member of the Board of Directors for Homestead Corporation of Champaign-Urbana. Natalie has also worked as a Research Fellow in Community Economic Development at Carolina Small Business Development Fund and as a Senior Research Consultant at Nevada HAND, Inc. Natalie has prior experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they worked on various projects related to rezoning, fair housing, and redevelopment. Natalie has also interned at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, Workplace Equity Partners, and the City of Urbana, Illinois. Natalie has also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and a Writing Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Natalie Prochaska, PhD, pursued their education in a chronological order. Natalie began their academic journey in 2005 by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Later on, they focused on urban planning, entering the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013 and completing their Master of Urban Planning degree in 2015, with a specialization in Housing. Building upon their master's degree, Natalie Prochaska engaged in further advanced studies at the same institution. From 2016 to 2022, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Nevada HAND is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to the development, management, and preservation of affordable housing. Through continuous growth, Nevada HAND has become the largest provider of its kind in the state of Nevada, currently owning and/or managing 35 apartment communities across the Las Vegas Valley that are home to over 7,900 seniors, working adults, and children. Resourceful development strategies and partnerships have allowed Nevada HAND to build, manage, and preserve apartment communities with rental costs below market rate. Nevada HAND employs over 200 individuals and is made up of distinct entities and departments, all working together to add their expertise and excellence to maximize the resident experience. Our departments include: • Real Estate Development identifies available property and project opportunities, develops strategies for partnerships, and secures funding for various initiatives. • HAND Construction Company (HCC) oversees the work of design professionals and sub-contractors to build highly functional and efficient properties. • HAND Property Management (HPM) manages the daily operation of the independent living multi-family and senior communities, including resident screening, leasing, and property maintenance. • Resident Services (RS) helps families and seniors by coordinating on-site programming and connecting residents with assistance programs and community organizations that can enhance overall quality of life. • HAND Senior Living (HSL) operates two unique affordable assisted living communities, Silver Sky and Silver Sky at Deer Springs, that feature around-the-clock care and assistance to seniors who need a higher level of care. • Corporate Administration houses business operations and management functions including accounting, regulatory compliance, resource development, information technology, payroll, marketing, and human resources.
