James J. Martines, Esq. has a diverse work experience in the legal field. James J. is currently serving as the Chief General Counsel & Vice Chancellor of Legal Affairs for the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), providing legal services to the Chancellor, Executive Team, and the Board of Regents. Previously, they were the General Counsel & Vice President for the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), advising the President and executive staff. Prior to that, they held the position of System and General Counsel for NSHE, providing legal advice to various department clients and acting as General Counsel for Nevada State College (NSC). James J. also served as the Acting Chief General Counsel and Vice Chancellor of Legal Affairs for NSHE. Before their work in higher education, Mr. Martines worked as Of Counsel for Peters and Associates, LLP, representing clients in land use and entitlement matters. James J. also served as an Assistant City Attorney II for the City of Henderson, advising various departments and practicing in different areas of law. Mr. Martines has a strong background in providing comprehensive legal services and overseeing legal staff.

James J. Martines, Esq. attended Basic High School from 1992 to 1996, where they did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. Subsequently, they enrolled in John Carroll University and from 1997 to 2001, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and minors in Philosophy and Creative Writing. Following this, they attended Cleveland State University - Cleveland-Marshall College of Law from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree specializing in Law.
