Cheryl Detrick has a diverse and extensive work experience. Cheryl started their career as the Director of Placement at Career College of Northern Nevada in 2000 and later became the VP of Community Health and Government Affairs at Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce in 2001. In 2006, they served as the Executive Director at Circle of Care Cooperative. From 2008 to 2015, Cheryl worked as the President and Chief Executive Officer at De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce, where they successfully transformed the organization into a bona fide chamber of commerce. Currently, they hold the position of President and CEO at Newcap, Inc. since 2016.
Cheryl Detrick has a diverse educational background. Cheryl earned a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee between 2015 and 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Politics from Drake University, attending from 1981 to 2012. Additionally, Cheryl obtained a BS in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, studying from 1982 to 1988.
In addition to their degrees, Cheryl has furthered their professional qualifications by obtaining a certification in CCAP (Certified Community Action Professional) from the National Community Action Partnership. Cheryl achieved this certification in May 2023 and is certified from 2022 to 2026.

That’s why Newcap assists those needing to stabilize their lives by securing a job, obtaining reliable transportation, or establishing a permanent residence. And that’s why Newcap supports those who need help planning budgets, purchasing homes, and building job skills. No matter where someone is on the poverty and economic security scale, Newcap can help. Newcap has the resources, the personnel, and most importantly, the compassion to make a difference, and to fulfill its mission to move people from poverty to opportunities and economic security and improve communities. People live in varying circumstances and therefore have different and very unique needs. Newcap offers programs to match. Newcap serves 14 counties in northern and northeastern Wisconsin with Crisis, Stability, Success, and Community Improvement programs.
