Samuel Clench

Sam is news.com.au's US correspondent, based in New York. He has years of experience reporting on US politics, having led news.com.au's coverage of the Trump administration, as well as the 2020 and 2016 presidential elections. Before taking up his role overseas, Sam was a member of the Canberra press gallery, where his job was to cut through the spin from all sides of politics. He has interviewed several leading political figures, including the Prime Minister and Treasurer, and followed both major parties' campaigns during the 2019 federal election. He holds degrees from the University of Sydney and UTS.
