Lisa Merkel has been a public servant for most of their career. Lisa started out as a reading specialist in Fairfax County Public Schools. Lisa then became vice mayor of the Town of Herndon, and finally mayor. As mayor, they oversaw a $55 million annual budget and served the 24,000 residents of the town. Lisa is currently the director at NextStop Theatre Company.
Lisa Merkel has a MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech and a BS in Education from Auburn University at Montgomery.
