Raluca Budiu has extensive experience in the field of user experience. Raluca started their career as a Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, where they focused on studying language understanding and created computational models of language processing. Raluca then joined PARC as a Researcher, where they conducted research on Web 2.0 and human-computer interaction, and conducted behavioral and eye-tracking user studies. Raluca then worked as a User Experience Researcher at Microsoft Corporation, where they focused on usability research for social network sites, online video, and integrating web 2.0 features into MSN. Raluca also worked as the Director of Research at Nielsen Norman Group, where they conducted and supervised research activities on various user experience topics, presented seminars, and provided consulting services. Additionally, they served as a Judge for the GSMA Global Mobile Awards at GSMA.

Raluca Budiu completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, which took place from 1990 to 1995. Subsequently, they pursued their Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, during the period of 1996 to 1999. Continuing their academic journey at Carnegie Mellon University, Raluca Budiu obtained their Ph.D. in Computer Science, completing their doctoral studies from 1996 to 2001.
