Sam Kanawati has a diverse work experience. From 2015 to 2021, they have held various roles in different companies. In 2015, they were a Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2017, they were a Software Engineer Intern at Qualcomm and a Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2018, they became the Founder and CEO of Simple Strips (YC W20). In 2019, they were a System Engineer at Texas Instruments. In 2020, they were an R&D Hardware Engineer at Qatar Foundation. Currently, they are the Head of Hardware Engineering at Nimbus, where they are building an affordable, lightweight, convenient electric vehicle.
Sam Kanawati attended Y Combinator's Winter batch in 2020. From 2016 to 2019, they obtained a Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the American University of Beirut from 2012 to 2016.
