Thomas Olsen has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Thomas started their career at Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, where they worked as an Electronics Mechanic from July 1992 to June 1995. Thomas then joined GiGA Aps, an Intel company, as an Application Engineer, where they provided customer support, designed evaluation boards, and created application notes and FAQs for 2.5 and 10 Gbps transceiver devices. From there, they moved on to the European Space Agency as a Young Graduate Trainee for a brief period in November-December 2001. Thomas then worked at Hans Toersleff Management Systems as a Project Manager from January 2002 to April 2002. Following this, they joined Intel Copenhagen, where they held two roles: Design Validation Engineer from December 2003 to December 2006 and Application and Design Engineer from April 2002 to November 2003. Since 2007, Olsen has been associated with NKT Photonics, where they have held various positions, including System Development Manager, Program Manager, Engineering Manager System Integration, Senior Engineering Manager Laser System Integration/Koheras, and currently, Director of R&D for the Koheras product line. In their current role, Olsen manages multiple teams involved in R&D activities, New Product Introduction, and development of production test software. Thomas also maintains close contact with internal departments, external suppliers, and customers.
Thomas Olsen's education history is as follows:

- From 1991 to 1995, they studied electronics mechanics at Teknisk Skole Ringsted.
- In 1995, they took an admission course to the University at DTU - Technical University of Denmark.
- Between 1996 and 1999, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc.EE) at DTU - Technical University of Denmark.
- From 2003 to 2006, they completed an EBA degree at Ingeniørhøjskolen i København.
