Pawel Piotrowicz

Head Of Thermal And Systems Engineering at Noon Energy

Pawel Piotrowicz's work experience begins in 2013 when they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Center for Plasma Materials Interaction, where they led a research project in EUV lithography and gained experience in experimental plasma research.

In 2013, Pawel also worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher in the Zhang Research Group, assisting graduate students with materials research using Molecular Dynamics codes.

From 2014 to 2019, Pawel served as a Research Intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. During this time, they tested plasma diagnostic equipment, designed RF circuit models, and collaborated with other organizations to optimize direct-ion heating and helicon sources.

In 2014, Pawel also began working as a Ph.D. Researcher Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Here, they collaborated with Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientists and engineers from Starfire Industries and AMAT to optimize plasma sources and design microwave slot antenna plasma sources using electromagnetic simulations.

Starting in 2019, Pawel joined LytEn Inc. as a Senior Research Scientist. In this role, they led scaling efforts for carbon nano-material reactors, resulting in increased throughput and decreased process costs. Pawel also developed production processes for carbon nano-materials, leading to the introduction of new products and customer contracts.

Most recently, Pawel is currently working at Noon Energy, where they hold the position of Staff Engineer and Research Lead. Pawel is contributing to Noon Energy's mission of achieving a fully-renewable future through low-cost compact long-duration energy storage inspired by nature.

Pawel Piotrowicz completed their education in the field of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering. Pawel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois System between 2010 and 2014. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2014 to 2018. Pawel then continued their studies and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 2014 and 2019.
