Bjørnar Baugerud has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple sectors and roles. Bjørnar started their career in 1995 as a Corporal in the Norwegian Army. In 2004, they worked as a Macro Analyst at Nevolution Concepts and Technology Pvt Ltd, followed by a short stint as a Freelance Research Analyst at Euromonitor International. In 2005, they worked as a Credit Controller at Elkem ASA and later as a Manager in the Financial Advisory Services department at KPMG AS, where they led buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence and M&A advisory projects. In 2008, Bjørnar joined Norfund as a Senior Associate, and they held various positions within the organization, including Senior Vice President and Head of the Climate Investment Fund. Their responsibilities at Norfund included managing investments in renewable energy, storage, hydrogen, transmission, and distribution in emerging markets. Bjørnar also served on portfolio company boards and investment committees. Bjørnar transitioned to the role of Investment Director in 2016 and then to Senior Investment Manager. Their last position at Norfund was as an Investment Manager, which they held until June 2019.
Bjørnar Baugerud has a strong educational background with a focus on finance. Bjørnar began their education journey in 1996 at the University of Oslo, where they completed a one-year course in Political Science. In 1997, they enrolled in the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and obtained a Master of Science in Business Administration (Siv.øk) in 2001, with a specialization in finance.
To further enhance their finance expertise, Bjørnar Baugerud pursued a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from the CFA Institute. Bjørnar successfully obtained this certification in September 2009. Continuing their education, they joined the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) again in 2001, undertaking Ph.D. coursework in Financial Economics, which they completed in 2003.
In 2006, Bjørnar Baugerud decided to further their knowledge in finance by participating in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program at the CFA Institute. Bjørnar successfully completed this program in 2008 and became a Chartered Financial Analyst.
In 2017, Bjørnar Baugerud attended the INSEAD, Scandinavian Executive Institute, where they completed an Executive Board Program to enhance their leadership and executive skills.

Norfund - The Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries, is owned by the Norwegian Government and serves as an instrument in Norwegian development policy. Norfund contributes to poverty reduction and economic development in the poorest countries through investments in profitable businesses and transfer of knowledge and technology. Norfund invests equity and/or debt capital, always as a financial minority together with partners, international or Norwegian. The main sector for investment is clean energy. Norfund is Norway's biggest investor in microfinance through the Norwegian Microfinance Initiative (NMI), and is also a prominent investor in small and medium sized businesses through regional funds and direct investments. Norfund's geographical focus is on Sub-Sahara Africa, where the fund has three regional offices (Nairobi, Cape Town and Accra). In addition, Norfund invests in selected countries in Asia and Latin America, with regional offices in Costa Rica and Bangkok. Norfund seeks to hire local staff in the regions, and 15 nationalities are represented among the staff.
