Elephant Keeper at North Carolina Zoo

Tovah Hackenberg is an experienced animal care professional currently serving as an Elephant Keeper at the North Carolina Zoo, specializing in African Elephant husbandry and training. Previously, Tovah held positions as a Zookeeper, Animal Keeper at the Animal Park at the Conservators Center, and Wildlife Hospital Technician at St. Francis Wildlife. Additional experience includes roles as an Animal Care Technician at Gulf Breeze Marine World, Wildlife Rehabilitation Intern at Waldens Puddle Inc, and a volunteer in animal husbandry for PROJECT WILDLIFE. Tovah's background also features work as a Safari Experience Tour Guide at San Diego Zoo Global and a Carnivore Keeper at Lions Tigers & Bears. With a degree in Biology from San Diego Miramar College, Tovah has developed a comprehensive skill set in animal care and education.
