Steve Schmidt is a highly experienced professional in the fields of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science, currently serving as the Director of Commerce Applied Science at Nike since July 2022. In this role, Steve leads a team of Applied Research Scientists in developing advanced machine learning models for various commerce applications, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement these technologies across multiple areas. Steve has held academic positions as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University and College of Charleston, teaching courses related to machine learning and data science. Previous experience includes significant roles at Wayfair, BAE Systems, Raytheon, and the Federal Communications Commission, where Steve contributed to numerous high-impact projects, including DARPA programs and innovative auction theoretic mechanisms. Steve holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and a Master of Science in Theoretical Mathematics from DePaul University, complemented by a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Winona State University.
