What you must have to apply

  • Valid State of California Professional Civil Engineer PE License
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited School
  • Five (5) or more years full-time experience as an Associate Engineer, or
  • Ten (10) years full time post graduate experience at an engineering firm managing projects from beginning to end, demonstrating proficiency in design package preparation, with a focus on project management and client satisfaction
  • Previous experience managing a minimum of ten (10) medium and large projects per year
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and policies
  • Awareness of financial records, collection policies and accounting procedures
  • Exposure to employee mentoring and/or team leadership
  • Possession of valid California Driver’s License and clear DMV Report

Your Skills

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Approachable with outstanding communication, written and oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
  • Ability to make complex computations and to check plans, calculations, and specifications
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and strong working knowledge AutoCAD, specifically Civil 3D, and Suite of Microsoft Office Products
  • Proficient in project management, leading a team, delegating tasks and managing budgets
  • A working knowledge of survey practices in both a field and office settingStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an effective team

Your Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Project Manager including preparing, overseeing preparation of estimates, scopes and client / design team communication on projects.
  • Responsible for multidisciplinary projects that include internal or external subcontractor coordination, communication, and management
  • Works with professional staff and project teams to assess and meet engineering needs, requirements, and deadlines.
  • Meet with clients, contractors, agencies, etc.
  • Responsible for Client development and retention
  • Working on establishing agency relations and staying informed of changing agency policies, procedures and/or processes.
  • Responsible for budget control and client satisfaction
  • Share expertise and insight with staff with the goal of enhancing professional development and personal growth.
  • Maintain internal QA/QC on other engineer’s work products.
  • Responsible charge of work performed including stamp and sign documents prepared by staff they are supervising.
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of calculations, plans, details, and specifications.
  • Perform job site visits and inspections.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position is eligible for supervisory responsibility of up to five (5) Associate Engineers or lower, and for Department Manager additional role
  • This position is responsible for reviewing work, training and mentoring team members

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Pay Rate – $98,236 to $125,440 based on relevant experience
  • Medical Insurance – stipend that may cover up to 100% of premium
