Larry Coben

Larry Coben is a seasoned executive and scholar with a diverse background in energy, archaeology, and nonprofit work. Since December 2003, Larry has served as President, CEO, and Chair of the Board at NRG Energy, a leading merchant generation company. Larry is also an Archaeologist and Consulting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, contributing to archaeological research and serving on the advisory council. As Executive Director of the ESCALA Initiative, Larry empowers disadvantaged entrepreneurs worldwide, predominantly women, to overcome poverty through business education. Additional leadership roles include Director at Freshpet, Founder and CEO of Tremisis Energy, and Advisory Partner at Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. Larry Coben holds a JD from Harvard Law School, a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Economics from Yale University.
