Susan Makena Njuguna is an experienced professional in the field of disability support and community services. As the founder of Leela Care Services since May 2019, Susan has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. In addition to this role, Susan has been a Disability Support Worker with the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW) and Forsight Australia since June 2016 and November 2014, respectively, focusing on providing essential support to people with disabilities. Prior work experience includes a position as a Lab Administrator at Hanson (HeidelbergCement Group) and as an Administrative Assistant at the United Nations. Susan holds a Graduate Certificate in Community Services Practice from Skills Generation Pty, Queensland, and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Disability Studies at Macquarie University.

The DCJ is the lead agency in the new Stronger Communities Cluster. The department enables services to better work together to support everyone's right to access justice and other help for families, and strengthen/bolster the promotion of early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. Working together in the Stronger Communities cluster means we can continue to deliver services with a more unified and collaborative approach. There is now a greater focus on prevention and early intervention, faster responses, more seamless operations, less duplication of effort and better outcomes.
