Soumya Ranjan Sahoo, Ph.D., currently serves as a Machine Learning Researcher at NTWIST since February 2022. Prior to this role, Soumya worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Alberta from September 2017 to January 2022, and as an Associate System Engineer at IBM India Private Limited from July 2016 to August 2017. Additional experience includes a Summer Research Intern position at the University of Minnesota in 2015, focusing on Navier-Stokes/Darcy coupling using immersogeometric finite element methods, and a Summer Research Intern role at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, studying low Reynolds number swimming in stratified layers. An early internship was completed at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, where the focus was on electroplating processes for aero engines. Soumya earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Process Control from the University of Alberta and holds a dual degree (M Tech and B Tech) in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela.
