Brian Heffernan currently serves as the Head of Public Investments Risk at Nuveen since December 2016, holding the title of Managing Director. Previously, Brian was the Head of Public Investments Risk at TIAA from April 2007 to December 2016. Prior to those roles, Brian served as Director – Senior Credit Officer at Swiss Re from 2002 to 2007, and held the position of Vice President - Credit Risk Manager at Allegheny Energy from 2001 to 2002. Brian's extensive experience also includes roles as Vice President - Senior Credit Analyst at Merrill Lynch from 1996 to 2001 and Financial Services Audit Senior at Ernst & Young from 1990 to 1995. Brian holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham Gabelli School of Business, obtained between 1998 and 2000, and a BS in Accounting from St. John's University, completed between 1988 and 1992.
