Barbara Lowe joins the NYC Health + Hospitals board as the City Council Health Committee Manhattan representative. Her expertise was developed during progressive work in leadership jobs and formal training as a nurse, educator and executive. She has had an enormous and influential impact on the health status of women, youth and families during her professional career. Barbara served in the Dinkins Administration as the Deputy Director for Health Policy where she worked to increase access to a range of services, community-based youth violence prevention strategies and coordination of services for vulnerable populations.
As the Chief Nurse Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, Barbara led a large workforce and implemented staffing and clinical improvements as well as department operational efficiencies. She is presently a member of the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Board of Directors where she chairs the Performance Improvement Committee and serves as Chairman of Long Term Care Facilities.
