Visiting Scientist at The New York Genome Center

Maithê Rocha Monteiro de Barros is a seasoned researcher currently serving as a Visiting Scientist at the New York Genome Center since April 2023 and as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University since March 2023. At Columbia University, Maithê focuses on single-cell sequencing to investigate the early stages of gastric and esophageal cancer development, employing innovative animal models and primary human samples to generate multi-omic datasets. Previously, Maithê was a Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Langone Health from April 2021 to March 2023, where the research centered on the genetic mechanisms and biological pathways associated with Keratoconus. Maithê holds a PhD in Biology/Biological Sciences from Aberystwyth University and a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro.
