Daniela Loock is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in academia and corporate leadership. Currently serving as the Director of Corporate Services at Ocean Networks Canada since January 2020, Daniela also holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada since January 2014. Previously, Daniela was the Associate Director of the Environmental Sciences Group at the Royal Military College from 1999 to 2013 and has worked as a Project Manager and Environmental Professional. Daniela also held the role of Chair of the Environment Division at the Chemical Institute of Canada from June 2009 to May 2012 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University from September 1997 to August 1998. Daniela earned a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry from the University of Victoria and a Dipl.-Ing. in Chemistry from Technische Universität Darmstadt.

Established in 2007 as a major initiative of the University of Victoria, Ocean Networks Canada operates world-leading ocean observatories for the advancement of science and the benefit of Canada. The observatories collect data on physical, chemical, biological, and geological aspects of the ocean over long time periods, supporting research oncomplex Earth processes in ways not previously possible.The observatories provide unique scientific and technical capabilities that permit researchers to operate instruments remotely and receive data at their home laboratories anywhere on the globe in realtime. These facilities extend and complement other research platforms and programs, whether currently operating or planned for future deployment.
