Matthew Hynes

EVP at Oceanex

Matthew began his career with Canship Limited as Assistant Marine Superintendent, where he was involved in the day to day shore-based management of a RoRo container vessel operation. Matthew also assisted with the management and administration of transportation and logistics coordination for a major minesite development project in Labrador. While attending university, Matthew formed and operated an IT firm where he gained valuable insight regarding the leadership and management challenges for small business enterprises.

Matthew joined Oceanex in 2008 as the Manager of Special Projects and subsequently held the role of Sales Manager for Newfoundland and Labrador and Pricing Manager before his promotion in 2013 to Vice President, Corporate Development and Executive Vice President in 2015. As Executive Vice President, Matthew is responsible for the company’s Quality Management System which is ISO Certified, the development of new business opportunities in line with Oceanex’s long term business strategy as well as analyzing trends and developing and reviewing existing business practices consistent with the Oceanex program of continuous improvement. Matthew earned a degree in Business Administration from Memorial University.
