David Berninger

David Berninger is an accomplished risk management professional currently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at OceanFirst Bank since October 2023. Prior to this role, David held the position of Chief Risk Officer for the US Region at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China from April 2022 to October 2023. David has extensive experience in various leadership roles, including First Senior Vice President, Deputy Chief Risk Officer, and Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Valley National Bank, as well as 1st Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the Enterprise Risk Division at Hudson City Savings Bank. David's career also includes significant tenure at Societe Generale as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Risk Management and as Vice President of Risk Management at Bear Stearns. Educationally, David earned an MBA from Rutgers University and a BSBA in Management from Bucknell University, where coursework also included a focus on Finance.
