With approximately $15 billion in assets, we’re among the nation’s largest power supply cooperatives and one of the primary energy producers in Georgia, generating power for 38 Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs) and the approximate 4.3 million people they serve. A proponent of conscientious energy development and use, we balance reliable and affordable energy with environmental responsibility, and we have an outstanding record of regulatory compliance. Our diverse energy portfolio includes natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric and coal generating plants, as well as purchased power, with a combined capacity, including the Smarr EMC-owned units, of more than 8,300 megawatts. Oglethorpe Power is owned by our 38 Member EMCs. We are a powerful member of the electric utility industry – a growing, fast-paced, stable industry filled with opportunities to use cutting-edge technology to provide a basic necessity: electricity.
