Karel De Leest currently serves as the programmamanager Kwaliteitsagenda at SOMA College since July 2023, driving the ambitions of the vocational school. Since September 2017, Karel has also held the position of Directeur Onderwijs a.i. at Onderwijsgroep Amersfoort and serves in various capacities on the Raad van Toezicht for SVO vakopleiding food, including Chair and Member. Previously, Karel was the Voorzitter College van Bestuur at a prominent vocational school tailored for the food sector and held the role of Directeur Veiligheid en Defensie College at ROC Midden Nederland. Karel's experience includes a directorial position at SOMA College from 2009 to 2012, and as an interim-manager from 2007 to 2009. Karel holds a master's degree in Sociale Wetenschappen from Utrecht University and is pursuing further education at Sioo.

De scholen verzorgen openbaar onderwijs in Amersfoort en omgeving, variërend van speciaal onderwijs tot categoriaal gymnasium.
