Dr. Daniel Mulnæs

Scientific Integration Engineer at OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences

Dr. Daniel Mulnæs has a diverse work experience in scientific integration engineering, research, and development. Dr. Daniel is currently working as a Scientific Integration Engineer at Cadence Design Systems since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at OpenEye Scientific in the same role since April 2022.

Before joining the industry, Dr. Mulnæs worked as a Postdocforsker at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf from March 2019 to April 2022. Dr. Daniel also worked as a PhD Student at the same institution from February 2013 to March 2019.

Dr. Mulnæs gained valuable experience during their Master of Science program at the University of Copenhagen, where they focused on structural bioinformatics. Dr. Daniel completed their master's thesis comparing pH-dependent conformational movements of proteins using molecular dynamics simulations and statistical sampling methods. Dr. Daniel conducted their research both at the Structural Bioinformatics Group at Copenhagen University and at Novozymes A/S.

Prior to their master's program, Dr. Mulnæs worked as a Student Software Developer at Novozymes, where they implemented a protein dynamics simulation pipeline for their master's thesis. Dr. Daniel gained insights into protein design and worked as part of the research and development department from January to September 2012.

Before their master's program, Dr. Mulnæs completed their Bachelor of Science at the University of Copenhagen. Their bachelor thesis focused on studying and reviewing missense mutations in the copper transporting protein ATP7A, which causes Menkes Disease. The study was conducted at the Biomembrane Research Center, August Krogh Institute, using yeast as a model organism and various assays to investigate the effects of mutations.

Overall, Dr. Daniel Mulnæs has a strong background in scientific integration engineering, research, and development, with expertise in molecular dynamics simulations, protein design, and structural bioinformatics.

Dr. Daniel Mulnæs has an extensive education history. Dr. Daniel completed their Ph.D. in Pharmacoinformatics from the University of Düsseldorf between 2013 and 2020. Their focus during this time was on Computational Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Prior to their Ph.D., they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Structural Bioinformatics from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, graduating in 2012. Dr. Daniel also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biophysics from the same university, which they earned between 2007 and 2010. Dr. Mulnæs began their academic journey at Greve Gymnasium, where they pursued a Mathematical Branch, completing their graduate studies there between 2004 and 2007. Overall, Dr. Daniel Mulnæs has a strong background in mathematics, biophysics, structural bioinformatics, and computational pharmaceutical chemistry.
