Bjorn Hjelm is a seasoned professional in the field of identity and access management, currently serving as a Senior Standards Architect at Yubico since July 2024. Hjelm co-chairs the MODRNA Working Group at the OpenID Foundation and has held various liaison roles with the CAMARA Project and ETSI to advance technical collaboration and standardization in telecommunications. As a Vice Chairman and member of the Executive Committee at the OpenID Foundation, Hjelm leads strategic transitions for organizational leadership. With a rich background at Verizon, including positions as Distinguished Engineer and member of the Board at FIDO Alliance, Hjelm possesses extensive expertise in mobile identity, network planning, and technology strategy. Hjelm is also the founder and CEO of Family Hjelm Holdings LLC, overseeing a parent company with diverse operational ventures. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado Boulder.
OpenID Foundation
The OpenID Foundation (OIDF) promotes, protects and nurtures the OpenID community and technologies. The OpenID Foundation is a non-profit international standardization organization of individuals and companies committed to enabling, promoting and protecting OpenID technologies that provide the internet identity layer and API Protection. Formed in June 2007, the Foundation serves as a public trust organization representing the open community of developers, vendors, and users. OIDF assists the community by providing needed infrastructure and help in promoting and supporting expanded adoption of OpenID. This entails managing intellectual property and brand marks as well as fostering viral growth and global participation in the proliferation of OpenID.
