John Forbes

John Forbes is a seasoned industrial designer with extensive experience spanning several decades. Currently serving as a Senior Industrial Designer at OPEX Corporation since September 1997, John specializes in operator interfaces, ergonomics, product exteriors, and mechanical design for high-speed scanners and automated equipment. Previously, John held industrial designer positions at Forbes Design and The Franklin Mint, where responsibilities included product design for collectibles, toys, and lighting, as well as creating designs for iconic products such as chess sets and furniture collections. Early in John's career, as a Lighting Designer at ldc, custom lighting fixtures were designed for various prestigious projects. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Product Design from the University of the Arts, complemented by a prior education in sculpture and painting from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
