Michael Liu, CFA, FRM, MFE, currently serves as a Senior Investment Risk Analyst at OPTrust since September 2021, focusing on risk oversight in capital market investments and developing risk frameworks for various categories including funding, market, liquidity, counterparty, and climate risk. Prior to OPTrust, Liu held positions as an Officer in Quantitative Risk at State Street Global Exchange, where responsibilities included the development and enhancement of risk solutions, and as a Senior Analyst in Investment Risk at CPP Investment Board, conducting quantitative investment risk analysis and model validation for derivatives. Liu's earlier experience includes an internship as a Research Analyst at Highstreet Asset Management, specializing in derivative trading strategies and machine learning for stock selection, as well as a role as a Research Assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University, where notable research was completed efficiently. Liu holds a Master of Financial Economics from Western University and a Bachelor of Mathematics with a focus on Financial Analysis and Risk Management from the University of Waterloo.
