J. Derrick Peterson has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, with a focus on credit unions. Their most recent position was as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Oregon State Credit Union. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at Deseret First Credit Union, where they successfully led the growth of the credit union's assets from $412 million to approximately $700 million. Before that, they held the role of Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer at Greater Texas Credit Union and Public Employees Credit Union. Additionally, they served as the Chief Financial Officer at Colorado Credit Union and started their career as a Controller at Credit Union One. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in financial accounting, strategic planning, management liaison to the board of directors, and regulatory compliance. J. Derrick has also implemented improvements in operational processes, vendor due diligence, and financial reporting.
J. Derrick Peterson obtained an Associates degree from Brigham Young University - Idaho between 1994 and 1995. J. Derrick later pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix, completing it in 2000. In 2015, they obtained the certification of Certified Credit Union Investment Professional (CCUIP) from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
