Laurel Westcott is an Animal Welfare Monitoring Specialist at the Oregon Zoo since March 2018, collaborating with animal care staff and researchers to enhance animal welfare standards through behavior and hormonal monitoring. Laurel's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology/Animal Biology from Portland State University and a Master's Degree in Conservation Science from The University of Queensland. In addition to a robust career in animal welfare, Laurel has extensive experience in volleyball coaching, having served as a coach for various age groups and clubs, including North Pacific Juniors and the U18 Dragons Volleyball Team. Prior roles also encompass customer service and management positions in retail and sports environments, demonstrating a diverse skill set in both animal care and athletics.
